Girl Power

One of the highlights of my fitness journey so far has been all the support, motivation and encouragement I've received since starting - from OTHER WOMEN. There is always the notion that when it comes to matters of the scale, women are jealous and catty. They can't be happy for others who are succeeding. They can't stand the fact that other women are in a better place. I've happily learned, in the last 18 months, that for so many of us this is simply not true.

I decided to document my story because I needed a kick in the butt. I was using social media as a motivational pinboard in many ways - I started following accounts that resonated with me, that shared the lives of other people, many of them moms like me, who started from the bottom and worked their way to a happier and healthier life.

When I created my instagram account in April of 2014, I never imagined that I would be where I am today. I figured that it would remind me to work out, and encourage me to take those dreaded before-and-afters. Today, instagram is a critical part of my fit life.

I truly love my fitfam and have made many friendships with strong and inspiring men and women who share my health and wellness interests and goals.  One of my favorite accounts is Flexitpink.  Flexitpink was founded by two moms who love the fit lifestyle. These kind and hardworking women post transformation stories, motivational quotes, and design and sell their own super-duper cute and comfy fitness tees and tanks. And they had the ingenious idea to create virtual races, 5 and 10ks, that anyone can join in, anywhere.  I'm seriously thinking about joining their Valentine's Day 10k!

Definitely check out flexitpink on IG and Facebook - and you can find them at www.flexitpink.com.  This post is not sponsored by flexitpink, I'm just a huge fangirl!

Please continue to follow my fitness journey as I try to get into the swing of blogging. And check out my IG, Fitmomworks, if you haven't already.
